Just curious if anyone in the community has tattoos in honor of the Eddings' books? I'm looking particularly for the Belgariad or Mallorean storyline...but would love to see any others if there are!

Okay, so...
I know this community has been dead for about a year, but I need some help and I didn't know who else would get it. Sorry for bumping!

The basic gist: my dad was reading me The Belgariad since the day I was born. The books have a lot of meaning and significance to me.

I'm wanting to get another tattoo and I was thinking that something from the books would be perfect. But...I can't decide on what I should go with. The Orb of Aldur is definitely a major symbol, but it'd basically be a glowing circle.

Anyone have any suggestions?

And again, sorry for the necro post. ^_^;

On the 28th of February 2007, David Eddings' wife, Leigh Eddings (born Judith Leigh Schall), died following a series of strokes. She was 69.

I just found this out and I am really sad now. I also believed that she wrote a large majority of the dialogue for Polgara and Poledra.

I have been reading through Polgara the Sorceress and Belgarath the Sorcerer getting as much detail as i can about Garion's family tree. I came upon something I had not noticed before in my previous read throughs of Polgara's book. Prince Geran that escaped the assination at Riva had at least two brothers. I discovered this when I read the statement made by Prince Geran when he said "My oldest brother is going to be King." If he had only one brother he would have said "my brother" by using the statement "my oldest brother" he reveals that he has more than one.

First began to like C'Nedra: Magician's Gambit

First realize Eriond was more than he appeared: King of the Murgos

First realize that Silk was the Guide: Guardians of the West

First Realize that Belzedar was destined to betray Aldur: Enchanters' End Game

First Realize that Poledra was not dead: Castle of Wizardry

First Realize that Taiba was going to be the mother of the new Gorim: Castle of Wizardry

First Realize that Belgarath was the shit: Pawn of Prophecey

I am in the middle of reading Castle of Wizardry and i keep seeing the name Eriond on this page.
My question is: Is Eriond the name of the little boy (aka Errand) or the voice inside Belgarion's head?

Another question. In the Vale, Belgarath stated that Bel was used for sorcerers and Pol for sorceresses. Using that logic, shouldn't Beldaran (twin sister to Polgara) be Poldaran or something?

Having read Eddings books and Lord of the Rings, what is your opinion of Christopher Paolini and his Inheritance Trilogy?

Specifically, I have noticed some "coincidences" between his books and Tolkein's and Eddings such as the silvery palms, the importance of certain round stone-like objects and the other non-human beings. What is your take?

On the world

So I was just thinking about how the "Will and the Word" made the Sorcerors so powerful. Yet I remember from the books the Gods willed the world and creatures into being. By that very definition anyone who uses the "will and the word" are in fact an aspect fo the divine.

What's your take on this? Could all the Sorcerors be in fact gods/demi-gods?

i am halfway through the third book and have the following questions.

How do you pronounce the following

Hrulgin is the h silent?
Hrulga is the h silent?
Eldrakyn el-drack-in?

This book mentions that the Aldur river empties into the Gulf of Cherek. If that is the case the river would have to flow from South to North. How can this be true when later on in the series Cherek warboats sail down the river. Would it not have to be rowing up the river?

I have finished reading the first book and am half-way through the 2nd. Even though this is my 6 or 7 time through the series i still have some questions.

In Pawn of Prophecy Polgara remarks to Belgarath "I am not suited to the task you and the others have assigned me. What do I know about the raising of little boys?"

Polgara raised about 1500 years worth of boys before getting to Garion, so why would she say this?

Ctuchik...how the hell do you pronounce his name. I have been pronouncing it like this-- cuch (rhymes with huch) ick

Is Garion's birthday before or after Erastide

Poledra wins!!!

Her victory was rather surprising to me what with Garion and the Orb. But I also remember Poledra talking about she could fill in for Garion if necessary, so I guess the Orb is not everything.

I am re-reading the series again for the 5 or 6 time I think, and am going to post some things I am curious about and I hope you all will help me with them.

Round 6
Round 6--Championship round

1. Belgarion vs 2. Poledra

I have went into every round with an idea of how each pairing would turn out. For the most part everything went as I thought, however Hettar advancing as far as he did was interesting. Especially considering he defeated Mandorallen, Liselle, and Sadi. That's is quite an achievement.

Now the championship match Belgarion vs Poledra. I have no idea how this will turn out. My money would be on Belgarion only because he won the first version of the tournament we had some months ago. But Poledra is certainly his equal in many regards. It shall be intersting to see who wins.

Also since this is the championship, I would like everyone to explain why they made their choice. (i.e. why you picked whoever you picked to win)
